Component and Complete-Switchgear Supply Scope

A product illustration may show the main component, mechanisms and accessories together, but the supply schedule defines procurement scope. Moving from an individual component to complete switchgear requires a fresh definition of interfaces, controls, verification and delivery responsibilities.

A product illustration may show the main component, mechanisms and accessories together, but the supply schedule defines procurement scope. Moving from an individual component to complete switchgear requires a fresh definition of interfaces, controls, verification and delivery responsibilities.

Define the delivery level first

A part enquiry focuses on its interfaces; a subassembly needs a list of assembled components. Complete panels also involve structure, wiring and system configuration. Define the level explicitly so a core unit is not mistaken for switchgear or a mechanism for a complete switch.

  • Part: body and required mounting items
  • Subassembly: assembled parts and external interfaces
  • Panel: primary circuit, enclosure and secondary systems

Separate primary parts, mechanisms and controls

For switching devices, list primary parts, mechanisms, coils and auxiliary contacts. For reclosers, also list controllers, sensors, power supplies and cables. Define protection, communication and remote-operation functions and interfaces explicitly rather than relying on the phrase complete equipment.

  • Primary circuits and connection accessories
  • Operation, controls and position feedback
  • Measurement, protection and communication scope

Match verification records to the delivered object

Component records should match the component; requirements for a complete panel or combination need evidence for that configuration. State required inspections, drawings and report coverage, with responsibility for checks after assembly and project acceptance.

  • Model, drawing and revision correspondence
  • Component and assembly test scope
  • Post-assembly checks and acceptance responsibilities

Close the scope with a responsibility schedule

Assign supply, assembly and approval responsibility to each item. Include installation accessories, packing, delivery destination and documentation. Samples, lead time and after-sales terms belong in the specific quotation rather than being inferred from another model or project.

  • Supply, assembly and approval responsibility
  • Installation accessories and delivery documents
  • Commercial terms for the specific configuration

Can a component report replace complete-panel documentation?

Check the project requirements and report coverage. Component records do not automatically establish every performance characteristic of a complete panel.

Does complete equipment mean every accessory is included?

Define controllers, protection, cables, mounting hardware and delivery documents individually in the schedule.
